The Bitch, Please Of The Day

I just saw some commercial for the second time pushing for the repeal of Obamacare. Some lady who claims to be Canadian and had some horrible brain disease says she came to America to have life-saving surgery because if she had stayed in Canada, she would have died. But enlighten me, Shona- what did your medical bills look like after this life-saving surgery? I noticed that was not mentioned in the commercial. And I doubt it was done for free.

I am tired of hearing about healthcare. Obamacare has its flaws, but something needs to be done about the current healthcare state. I like when people complain that once it goes into effect, their employers will get rid of their healthcare plan. I don't know what planet these people live on. What makes you think they wouldn't do that now? What makes you think that whoever is in charge of company healthcare won't wake up one morning and decide, hm, I think I need to get my employees a different healthcare plan this one is costing me too much money? Oh. It can. Look at what happened at my old job. They lay off a bunch of people and decide to get a more expensive (but just as shitty) healthcare plan. My COBRA rates went through the roof.

I am also beyond tired of oh when you are uninsured taxpayers foot the bill. Yeah. For a select few. If I had a heart attack within the next 5 minutes and was rushed to the hospital, I would be the only one footing my bill. I have a cousin who is poor as shit, had a heart issue and was hospitalized, and is paying the bill. Not taxpayers. Her. Oh but I am sure her loser ass daughter who got knocked up with another loser had all her bills paid for by the taxpayers.

All this healthcare talk reminds me of a temp assignment I had a couple summers ago when I argued with the boss that healthcare companies can still deny things for preexisting conditions. He said no they cannot. If he remembered who I was, I would find the letter from my previous insurer denying my gastroenterologist visit due to preexisting conditions. Conditions that did not even have a confirmed diagnosis. I would find the letter, copy it, attach a note with "cannot deny due to preexisting conditions?" and then attach a photo of the O RLY owl at the bottom.

The Stupid Of The Day

Actually, this is a little old, since it was said on the day the healthcare reform thing was upheld, but it's been irking me since I heard it. My local news station was interviewing people on what they thought of it and some dude was complaining about it, saying he never gets sick and it's more worth it to pay out of pocket to go to the doctor's with as little as he gets sick.

I understand his point. I never get sick either, so it's very rare I ever have to go to the doctor's. Like I have said before, I appear to have a super immune system like my mother, despite never being breast fed, although I am still just waiting for one day it to unleash its vengeance against me in the form of an autoimmune disease. The only time I am at the doctor's a lot is when I am going through a "disease crisis" and need to be reassured I am not sick. And that is actually where NOT having insurance is beneficial, because when I don't have it, I can't feed my stupid obsessions.

I also don't think people should be forced to buy health insurance. But having no insurance doesn't help if I were to suddenly develop cancer or seriously injured in a car accident. Are you going to think the same about paying out of pocket for that, buddy? Naturally, most people don't think bad things can happen to them, but it can. And you need to be prepared for it.

Jesus. It must be nice to be that delusional in life to think bad things will never happen to you.

I also saw an article in the Sunday paper disputing someone's argument against health care reform. And it was pretty good, up until the part where it says the uninsured use ERs and we pay for them anyway. Uh, yeah. I am positive if I were to go to the ER and be treated for something, my bill would just be written off. That would be about as likely as me going up to the Human Services department and being approved for Medicaid. In other words

Random Thoughts

Well, at least I can say I am a little bit of a better mood than I was yesterday. It could very well have to do with a little something called IT’S FRIDAY. I was so excited today was Friday I almost got up at work and did the Friday dance with the Breakfast Club.

I almost died of shock the other day when I was given a records request and not only did it have a subpoena, it had a check as well. I was overfilled with glee until I happened to look at the check. It was for $6. I looked at it a couple times to make sure my eyes were not deceiving me. And then this is what I did. I hunted down the chart. Then I counted the number of pages in the chart. Then I looked at the check again. AND THEN….and then I busted up laughing. Six dollars! Bitches, please! I ended up having to type up a letter demanding a check for whatever remained of the bill. But what I really wanted to do was send them the first six pages, then compose a letter of cut out letters (you know- like ransom letters) informing them if they to see the rest of the chart, they have to send a check for whatever the rest of their bill was.

Maybe I would have added a problem trollface at the bottom. Depends on what my mood would be at the time of composing said letter.

I am getting annoyed in work because I have to log under two different Windows names to scan and to do other things. The log-in under the scanner was not given Adobe PDF. And it was not a problem until I realized there are times I need to preview the shit I have scanned. So then I have to close out of our work program under the scanner log-in and log-in under my name and while it does not sound that bad, it is actually an enormous pain the ass. Especially since I have had to do it a lot more than usual (mostly because, thanks to having obsessive compulsive disorder, I have to check and recheck my work repeatedly). And for some reason or another, our worthless IT department will not install it for me. I feel like telling them, look, give me the software, give me temporary administrative privileges and I will install the fucking software myself.

Our IT department is worthless. Every time I call, I get one of two things 1) the answering service or 2) they cannot help me with my problem.

I received a letter from my insurance company last week blabbering on about pre-existing condition crap. I have not gone to the doctor for any real condition. I have not been formally diagnosed with anything so what the hell are they blabbering about? I fucking hate insurance companies. Always with the not wanting to pay shit. And I swear every letter insurance companies compose is deliberately worded in the most difficult possible ways. Every letter I receive from my insurance is like reading fucking Klingon.

I need to call them and find out what is going on and I am waiting for a day I come home from work in an exceptionally hostile mood to deal with them. I think PMS should be rearing its ugly head very shortly so that should be an absolutely fantastic time to deal with them.

See and now they want to start this bullshit which means it might be even harder for me to go get a colonoscopy. I give up trying to get a colonoscopy. I take it I am just not meant to get one. Stupid fucking digestive system. It is has been behaving most of this week, but not today. Oh no. I am right back to being constipated again. And last night I had such a violent case of heartburn and let me tell you- belching up a mixture of KFC and strawberry Jell-o is not very pleasant.

I have a question for you, digestive system:

The Stupid Of The Day

I am getting tired of the WTF of the day being used so much for things that really aren't so much a WTF, but more of just plain stupidity. That said, the comments section:

Facebook| Friendly's Photos

What is the stupidity is the comment after comment of "how is this new? the Reeses sundae has been around for ages WAH". This is CLEARLY not the usual Reeses Peanut Butter cup sundae that has been around for ages. It is CLEARLY made with the new Reeses Peanut Butter Cup ice cream (which, if I do say so myself, is friggin AWESOME), which has NOT been around for ages. Oy! People are so fucking stupid! And oy! I am really becoming fucking anal retentive!

Also- last Monday, I was given my health insurance card. So, after 3.5 years, I finally have health insurance. And since I cannot go one day without a Futurama reference....huzzahs are in order!

Random Thoughts

I am little late on this, but holy freaking crap! I can't believe Congress actually passed the healthcare reform bill through!

It absolutely astonishes me how many people believe there should be NO healthcare reform. Rich morons, blockheads who already receive socialized medicine, and idiots with the "it can never happen to me" mentality are the ones most likely to be against it. You can't lose your health insurance? It's here to stay forever? You will never lose your job? You won't get a fucking brain tumor and have your health insurance refuse to pay your bills? Aetna won't deny you coverage because you stuffed your face with fattening foods and are now fat as hell and have diabetes? No. None of this will happen to you because nothing bad could ever happen to you. Bad things don't happen to you because God loves you and thinks your special.

Yeah. Keep telling yourself that. Or better yet, get bent.

If I had to say the one good thing about me having obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety is I never have the mentality of "it could never happen to me". In fact, I have the exact opposite- it will happen to me! Thinking bad things will always happen to you is, quite frankly, a better situation to be in then to think it never will. That way, if it does, it won't be that shocking.

People who want healthcare reform are not all "gimme gimme gimme everything for free" or have the I am owed stuff mentality. I am not asking for free health insurance. I am asking for health insurance that won't murder my finances. Healthcare reform is more than just affordable healthcare, assholes. It's about having the peace of mind that if you develop cancer or something else, your health insurance company won't fuck you up the ass. It's about not having to worry that when you are able to get health insurance, you won't be denied coverage because you are sick. I am terrified that when I apply for health insurance, I am going to be denied due to being sick in the head. Oh sure, health insurance companies don't want to treat mental hilarity the same as diabetes, but they will have no problem denying coverage.

People who are uninsured are not all lazy bastards. I see many files a day where the person is uninsured and most of them have decent jobs!

I would say that I think every Congress member who voted nay have their socialized medicine revoked, but then there are some, like John Adler, who voted against it for a different reason.

Like Lady Miss Kier wrote on her FB page:
prayers don't pay the Doctor's bills
Darren Hayes' response to the passing was just as good:
Welcome to the 21st Century. Amen
In less than a month, it has been almost 2 years since my friend was killed in a car accident. I have never really been able to react to it. A month or so ago, "Don't Look Back In Anger" by Oasis came on (it was one of her favorite bands) and I broke down a little. The other night, I was doing something and I had been listening to "Anthem" and something made me think of her and when the "this is an anthem for...." part came on, I burst into tears and couldn't stop crying. I have never properly grieved over her death and while I still don't think I have, that was the closest I have come. It's hard to grieve over someone's death when you don't see death as all that bad.

I did have a nice day today. Then I had to go and ruin it by stepping on the scale and finding out I was about 7 to 8 pounds heavier than what I weighed Thursday morning. Certainly much of it was probably from my high sodium laden dinner and 100+ oz of soda. I was already unhappy with the scale Thursday. I was kind of bad last weekend- not the worst I have ever been- and I have been having stomach trouble all week so whether that attributed to the 1.5 to 2 pound weight gain I saw Thursday I don't know. SO what did I in response to that 7/8 pound weight hold? I gorged. And then I threw up. Three times. Most of it was liquidy. I don't even know if I threw up what I gorged on. For a while, I was doing this once a week. Then I finally put a stop to it. And then I had to go and do it again last week. It needs to stop. I don't want to turn into a full fledged bulimic. My esophagus is on fire right now. I already have acid reflux. If I keep this up, I am not going to have any esophagus left. I am very angry at myself for engaging in vomiting again.

I am sick of my brain. I know that there are many things in my life where I feel the complete opposite of what "normal" people feel, but I truly wish that something other than a chemical imbalancement is what is behind my whole being. A brain tumor, a nervous system disorder, whatever- anything is better than saying "oh no, my serotonin/dopamine/whatever the fuck is behind it are all off". It's a sick, sad thing to say, but I want to have an MRI or whatever done and be told there is a brain tumor or lesion or something. Anything to explain this abrupt nasty change in me. Until then....where the hell is that Q-Tip?

The WTF Of The Day

Rob Merkle on health care:
I believe in stopping health care. People don't want it.
So he is not just against public health care, he is against health care completely?

I can't even respond to this. I just want to laugh until I break a couple of ribs. Unfortunately, I ate so much today, I would probably just puke my face off, although at this point I would welcome it.

Quote Of The Day

Probably the first and last time you will hear me commend something that comes out of her mouth, but it's so goddamn true....Megan Fox on negotiating with a Transformer should one ever come to Earth:
I’d barter with him and say instead of the entire planet, can you just take out all of the white trash, hillbilly, anti-gay, super bible-beating people in Middle America?
AH. We can only wish.

If only there was one yesterday in Washington. That tea party performance was enough to solidify my complete and utter disdain for those people. Comparing health care reform with the Holocaust. That was low, even for them. That was brutal even by my standards. And I was the one who had to spend a week in a freakin' funny farm? These assholes need to be in one. Hello, whatever Behavorial, I have a reservation for 5,000 rightwing nutcases!

Why not? Did you ever look at their signs? I'd certainly consider someone carrying a sign that says "This time we didn't bring our guns" a danger to society. God! I cannot wait until the day I see these people in hell. I hope there is a special place in hell for those low lifes.

I have to laugh at these people protesting a public option. They don't want to pay for others to have health insurance, yet costs are rising partly due to obesity. Have you ever seen the tea party folks? They're all fat lazy slobs. SOO we have to pay for them, but they don't want to pay for us.

If anyone of those people worked for me and I found out they were there protesting health care reform, I would take away their healthcare just so they can get a taste of what it is like to have no healthcare. Of what it is like to live every day in fear of something happening to you that will leave you with bills so high you have to file bankruptcy, after spending years of working your ass paying all of your bills on time. Because no one would write off my bills.

And finding a job with health benefits is almost next to impossible.

Michelle Bachmann doesn't support healthcare reform? Fine. I offer a proposal to you, Michelle. If you despise tax-payer sponsored healthcare so much, then you need to give up your own healthcare, as well as any other member of Congress who doesn't support it.

Quote Of The Day

A letter written by Philadelphian Michael Taylor, quite frankly one of the best arguments on health care reform:
TO THOSE against a public health-care option:

Schools, libraries, parks, infrastructure and more are all provided by our government. They are funded with the tax revenue that we the people provide. Why should health care not be among these offerings? Being able to go to a zoo or a park is more important than an American's health?

I've worked and paid taxes for 25 years with only one gap of three months. I'm not a deadbeat or illegal alien. So what happens if I lose my job in uncertain times? Just out of luck?

I'm healthy for the most part, but wear glasses and would like to have my teeth tended to and see my doctor regularly. Not to mention peace of mind if something serious did occur.

Maybe the plan being offered by the Democrats isn't perfect, but why isn't the opposition coming up with something comprehensive for the uninsured? Just saying "No" is very shortsighted, unfair, and plain mean.

It's also time for our elected representatives to strip themselves of their health plans and join the ranks of us regular citizens. That's a perk they voted for to benefit themselves. It's not as if those who elected them had any say in what health plan they get.

I like the comments section, where people are basically suggesting those of us without health insurance get Medicaid. Wow, none of us ever thought of that.

Shit, people, if all of us qualified for Medicaid, we wouldn't be fucking uninsured! No, decent hardworking people who need health insurance don't get Medicaid. I'll tell you who gets Medicaid- the loser patients my sister takes care of. The losers who get knocked up as early as 12 and are on their 5th child by 17 years old because they're too goddamn stupid to use birth control or to even keep their damn legs closed in the first place or they are these wonderful little devoted Catholic girls from a territory that should have been made its own country who are adamantly against birth control because the Catholic religion says it's the Devil but think nothing of having out of wedlock sex even though the Catholic religion says that's the Devil too (what doesn't the Catholic church consider evil?) or they are pregnant with their 7th child with their 7th baby daddy. The losers who don't use welfare to get through a tough time temporarily, but rather leave school and major in welfare for the rest of their lives because they think America owes them something and they shouldn't have to work to make money. Those are the recipients of Medicaid.

Why are people so goddamn delusional? It's like how Justin Timberlake believes he is bringing sexy back. I swear people never make any attempt to research anything. I have a friend from high school who one day posts something on Facebook about how she wishes the physical she needs for clinical was included in her $30,000 plus tuition for license practical nursing school (she is uninsured) and someone leaves her a comment that what is she complaining for; she'll be making double that after a year and she replies with yeah I know. I busted up laughing. Sixty grand as an LPN? Get real! My sister has been a registered nurse for almost 6 years and she is just finally making over sixty grand. Plus, nurse or not, I do not think that an LPN will have nearly as many job opportunities as an RN. Not sure how many hospitals in my area hire them, although I do know my sister's hospital doesn't. I think if they do hire someone with LPN credentials, when they are hired, they are not given that title.

The WTF(s) Of The Day

U.S. Losing Ground on Preventable Deaths

But....but I thought we had the best healthcare system in the world?

GOD! What other lies has Fox News been telling us?

And there is also this gem, written by some person who I can't even waste my time finding out the name of, on Mary Cheney having a child:
I respect Dick Cheney, but I don't understand why he is allowing his daughter to take innocent children into her lesbianic home. Can anyone claim that these kids won't be scarred for life? So sad. Also repugnant, IMNSHO, is the use of "they are expecting a child" when, for obvious reasons "they" could not POSSIBLY have conceived. It is the slight of hand that the left does with rediculous name reversals (like "FAMILY PLANNING") that implies something that in fact does just not happen...As much as I don't like it, God will have to sort this out in the end. Who is the father? Yes, you selfish lesbians, there is ALWAYS a father. Not that the baby will benefit from one. sick. I wonder if Hallmark makes a card for this occasion? Yathink? Congratulations on your baster bastard?
First....respect and Dick Cheney in the same sentence?

Considering the obnxious amount of arrogance Cheney displays by not even doing anything....is Cheney really going to allow this statement to pass without tearing this person another asshole? Hello? This is the man who shot his best friend. Do you really want to piss him off?

Damn it, I really miss Lil Bush.
