I just started reading the Jaine Austen series by Laura Levine and I'm kind of iffy on it. I'm reading Last Writes. It's not terrible; it's a pretty short and quick to read through. But some parts are a bit annoying (how many more times did she have to put "okay I didn't really say that"?) so I decided to check out Amazon reviews. And I came across this response to a review:
Amazon.com: adnaper "adnaper"'s review of Last Writes (Jaine Austen Mysteries)
Finally someone called out another on prasing Joanne Fluke. I see a lot of reviews for mysteries that are constantly comparing them to the Hannah Swenson series and how nothing is as great and blah blah blah and I'm like what in the hell am I missing? The Hannah Swenson series is far from great. I don't understand why so many people put it on such a high pedestal. It's not that the writing is terrible (it isn't, for the most part). It's just Hannah and every character is so goddamn insufferable it just completely destroys any of the good side of it.

Comment Of The Day
This perfect comment in response to this article:
I get so tired of hearing people whine that celebrities aren't there to be role models and parents should learn to parent blah blah blah. And while I agree that celebrities shouldn't be role models, guess what? They are. And judging by the pattern of society nowadays, it is very unlikely to change. It's the one time in my life I actually find the saying "it is what it is" appropriate.
On another note, there are actually people who find a role model in Rihanna? Seriously? And I would love to read what Rihanna's response to the first article the reporter wrote, but every time I see anything that girl writes, my brain hurts for days. I don't normally like to knock uneducated people, but there is no excuse for someone as rich as her to be so fucking uneducated. She has so many more resources at her disposal than say, an inner city kid. There are people who would give anything to have her resources to become educated.
ETA 7/7: I just saw an article with Rihanna's response to the original article. Wow. Blah certainly hit the nail on the head. Rihanna whined that being a role model isn't something she set out to do. Sorry, honey, that comes with being a celebrity, whether you like it or not. There are going to be young girls who will [stupidly] look up to you, whether you like it or not.
And do you know what else comes with being a celebrity? Being criticized. And if you don't have the backbone to deal with the public criticizing you, then get the hell out of the kitchen now.

Comment Of The Day
From this Cracked.com article, by soasertsus:
I never thought of "I'm too selfish to have kids." That seems like a good one. I don't want kids for several reasons, but to be honest I just don't like them. The thing is though, if you say you don't like kids you may as well be a monster on par with Adolf Hitler in some peoples eyes, which isn't preferable.Sorry, Gladstone, I have to disagree with you. Some people are just too selfish to have kids. Although, come to think of it, many selfish people do have kids. Many stupid, selfish people.

I'd be a failure at life- well, bigger- if I didn't know what that was from. None other than my favorite episode of Futurama.
The charge is bank robbery. Now, my caddy's chauffeur informs me that a bank is a place where people put money that isn't properly invested. Therefore, robbing a bank is tantamount to that most heinous of crimes, theft of money.Too bad I am no longer a Huffpost user. I would have had to give major props to this user. But I canceled my membership after someone pissed me off so bad that had I wrote what I wanted to write, I probably would have been banned. That site is like a stinking nanny state.
I like how the joke goes over so many heads.

Comment Of The Day
Barkthedog on the "Flash Delirium" video (from this article):
I'll never forget the first time I watched the video for "Time To Pretend". I think I sat staring at my computer for about 10 minutes, with "dafuq did I just watch?" running through my head. Then again I think I may have had a similar reaction the first time I saw the videos for "Kids" and "Flash Delirium", as well as being in awe of Andrew in that silver outfit in the former. Oh mama.
Wow,....looking for serious huh?! From MGMT,...right?! No,..they're not surfing the rings of Saturn this time,...or riding on kittens or shooting arrows at giant crabs which explode into a swarm of dolphins or any of that serious music stuff this time. Instead they're curing Ben of his inner demons by the old generals yanking the electric eel out on his singing throat hole and shoving it into the **** chamber where it explodes, flickering the lights at the party where they prove that white people can't dance to the amusement of the pigs outside. This needs some serious analysis!*sniffs loudly* That was beautiful, man.

Comment Of The Day
Wow. What was it the Robot Devil said? Ah yes! That was pretty brutal even by my standards! Although, to be fair, I could think of something a lot nastier to say than not wearing a condom. I'll give you a hint- it has nothing to do with condoms and everything to do with abortion.
When I read through the comments, I see plenty of examples of parents who made the mistake of not wearing condoms. Why in the hell are 99% of these people even allowed to be watching this show?! And I don't know what is worse- the nasty comments towards Mike or the ones that go "omg why do u losers like hiz page if all your gonna do iz hate?!!!! Get a life losers!". While I agree in questioning liking his page if all you are going to do is use derogatory terms, never EVER call someone else a loser or tell them to get a life if the Situation is your idol. Yes, people actually tell him that he is their idol. Or Snookie is. Whenever I read those comments, all I can think is, if I had a gun, I would blow my fucking brains out right this second. Or the other comments are along the lines of oh while we're all hating he's out there making money and laughing all the way to the bank. Big. Fucking. Deal. I would rather kill myself than do any of the crap he does. But then again, what doesn't do that? Simply looking in the mirror makes me want to kill myself.
For God's sakes, people. This is the future of this country?! FUCK!!!!!!! It's enough to make me want to go slam my head into a heavy wall! I swear to God, I think about suicide every single day of my life and I am starting to truly believe I need to just act on it, because judging by the way things are going, I don't see this dumbing down of America getting any better.
9:41PM: I just noticed his usage of the word "your" instead of "you're". AGAIN.

Comment Of The Day
From Radio 104.5's Facebook page on how Irene is making people feel:
I so badly want to be like everyone on my Facebook page and make light of this situation, but I am finding it really hard to make any jokes when my anxiety levels are so high, And while I briefly thought about it the other day, I almost completely forgot how hurricanes can spawn tornadoes, so that added another weight to my anxiety scale. I hate psychiatric drugs with a passion, but what I would not do for a major tranquilizer of the absolute highest quality right now.
On the plus side....because I am sure everyone really wants to know this....the excessive amounts of anxiety have been keeping certain organs in the body functioning.
8:10PM: I discovered a little before 6:30PM that my area was under a tornado watch until 8PM. I have been waiting- with even higher anxiety levels than when I initially typed this post- for the threat to be over at 8. Only to have this one expire and a new one is in place. Until 5 AM.
I have no idea how I am ever going to get through this night without losing it completely.
12:36AM: Three. Three tornado warnings right in my county (and about a million others in the rest of South Joisey, Delaware, and Pennsy). The first, ending at 9:30PM, was a little further down in my county, the third was further up in central Joisey, but the second one, ending at 10:45PM, was expected to hit a little too close for comfort. During the first one I happened to look outside and see different parts of the sky flashing white and green. I don't know if it was lightening or circuits being blowing out but that scared the absolute hell out of me. I thought for sure one was coming despite the spotted one being closer to the shore. One point during the second one my left hand and arm started to go numb and all I could think was oh god, leave it to me to have a heart attack in the middle of a storm. All I know is I am really hoping and praying no more come after this.
I wish I would have been able to get a picture of it, but the last two issued in my county, they were only issued in part of the county, but both were at the same time and on the map, they intersected and were both right around my town. It was freaky.
1:17AM: The old Ativan I took at, oh, 10:30PM....it's finally working.
