STAHP

Hey, OCD, I don't need any more obsessions, thank you very much.

We have a nest of baby birds in our tree in the front yard and this morning, two of them got out. One was on the side of the street, so I took a leaf and got the baby to follow it back up to our front walkway. It fluttered its wings a couple times against my hand and when I came in, I noticed a red dot on my hand and now I am freaking out that I am going to catch something from it. I came in and washed my hands, then poured rubbing alcohol down my arms and hands, let it set for a minute or so, then washed them again. Then I took a Clorox wipe and wiped down everything I touched. A few minutes later, I washed my hands again.

I am not usually this bad about contamination, but I am starting to find myself getting extremely uneasy about touching things whenever I go places. All I think about is where stuff has been and who else has touched it since before I touched it. I am starting to get creeped out when I go to restaurants and have to use the silverware. When I went to that party last week, I had wrapped up my piece of cake to take home and when I was leaving, one of my cousins gave it to me in a whole new container. I didn't say anything, but I was a little freaked out that someone else touched it.

On Monday, I had went over to Barnes & Noble to see if I could get a copy of the new issue of NME magazine, since it has an article about MGMT in it. I looked through the whole shelf, but couldn't find it, so I went up to customer service and the employee confirmed that they do have it in stock, but when he went back with me, he looked through the shelf and couldn't find it either. He asked another employee and he said they haven't gotten issues of it in a few months.

So yesterday I decide to run up to another one to see if they had it, and to also see if they had copies of Relix magazine, since they also have an article about them in it. I didn't find NME, but I did find the Relix magazine. I was planning on buying it until I saw the price of it ($6.99). Look, I love them, but not that much. So I briefed through the pages really quick and figured I would sleep on it whether I would buy it or not. Bu then later on, MGMT posted a link to the article on their FB page. So I read it there and as I was reading it, the first thing that came to mind was, wow, they sound really fucking pretentious in this article. Particularly (and surprisingly) Ben. It was a miserable day and I was still in a foul mood from Thursday night (getting caught in the pouring rain didn't help by any means), so maybe that was why I thought that, but I don't know. I'll just have to read it again when I am not so cranky and nit picky.

But if it doesn't come off any less pretentious, then it's just me. That is one of my problems. I will idolize people, but I will put them on such a goddamn high pedestal that when they do something I don't expect or like, I am quick to knock them off. Hell, we all know how much I worship Andrew, but even he has been on and off the pedestal more times than I can count, many times for reasons much too catty for someone of my age. It's not a good thing. And it's annoying.

Also, I was really shocked at how open Andrew was about doing acid. Don't get me wrong, I know they have done drugs in the past and frankly, I don't give a shit as long as it doesn't turn serious enough to affect their music or pose any kind of danger. But I was just surprised that he even still did them. I thought maybe they moved past that point in their lives.
