The WTF Of The Day

I just experienced something so infuriating, I had to interrupt the Spybot S&D scan I have running just to rant about it.

I have just wasted the past 24 hours reading Frenemies by Megan Crane and it is hands down, one of the worst chick lit books I have read. The copy I have is 289 pages. I got to page 250 and said the hell with this dumbass book. If it was not a library copy, I would burn it. A book has to be truly awful for me to actually stop reading it, especially with so few pages left.

Seriously? Amy Lee got pissed with them because they didn't notice that she wasn't drinking and could therefore be pregnant? And then suddenly, they're best girlfriends in the world again? WTF? Pregnant or not, I would have told that bitch to go to hell. The characters were irritating as hell. The only character I liked was Linus the dog. Henry was tolerable, also. I also liked that the book was set in Boston, the second one to do so in all of the chick lit books I have read. While I adore reading books set in New York, it gets a little tiring after so many times.

I have read plenty of chick lit books in the past, but why do I not remember there being so many where the main character suddenly has this epiphany and decides to become this whole new person? Yeah, like people change just like that. Whatever.

Random Thoughts

I finished Something Blue tonight and unlike many readers who have reviewed the book, I did not like Darcy by the end. She was so repulsive in the beginning, it made her sudden overnight change all the more absurd and ended up making me dislike her more. And the book just got cheesier and cheesier. I wanted to projectile vomit by the end of it. I don't even get how Ethan was friends with her because he didn't seem to like her much in the first book. And then to fall head over in heels in love with her and then marries her? Give me a friggin break.

If you didn't read the book, that was the ending. My bad.

And even with her little transformation from shallow vapid cunt to the next Mother Theresa, she still did not see anything wrong with what she did. It was just all Rachel and Dex hooking up. Let's just all forget that not only did she cheat with a guy, but also got herself knocked up. My eyes rolled so much reading this book, its amazing my contacts aren't stuck in my brain somewhere.

Another thing that annoys me in these books is the constant celebrity name dropping.

I also read Baby Proof over the weekend and that was pretty intolerable as well. It's weird, because Emily Giffin is a good writer. It's just the characters in her books are so irritating.

Onto other things. In tradition of providing my family with good luck, two weeks ago, our doorbell rang. My father answered, went outside with the person, and then came in with paperwork. He got served. He received a subpoena from good old Chase Bank. Chase Bank is the devil. Look, I can see from different points the absurdness of debt. I don't even know how we are in debt. Our house isn't great, my dad drives a crap car....we have nothing to show for our debt. So how the hell are we in it? But that's not the point. Chase just raises and raises and raises their APRs. If my father couldn't pay off the debt, will raising the APR get you your money quicker?

And then to make matters worse, Wamu, the one credit card my father was handling well, is brought out by fucking Chase! And BOOM! The interest rate shoots up again!

I have one Chase credit card, through Kohls. I haven't even used it in a few years, but seeing how they live up to their name, I want to get rid of it. If I ever receive another Chase credit card application in the mail, I will take the application, write FUCK OFF GREEDY BASTARDS on it in big huge letters and in permanent marker, and mail it back.

There is no way my father is going to be able to give them their money. He keeps making a big stink about filing bankruptcy, but really he is not going to have a choice. He can't pay the $25,779 and some odd cents he owes them. He can't afford the monthly minimum. I don't know why he won't just listen to me. He doesn't like that it makes your credit report look bad. Yeah, because making late payments and never paying Chase is really going to make your credit report look great. My father is really fucking stupid sometimes. NJ Lawnet says what I say:
Though bankruptcy puts a bad mark on one's credit rating, the overall effect of it can be less harmful than a record of debts and/or judgments that cannot be paid.
I tell both of my parents to call and either 1. tell them you are going to transfer the balance to credit card with a lower interest rate or 2. threaten bankruptcy. Do they listen to me? They probably won't listen to me either, provided my father ever gets a lawyer, when I tell my dad to make sure to tell the lawyer that Chase threatened him with jail. Oh, and that they also called our next door neighbor multiple times. And that they also have a tendency to make anonymous calls. We can have 5 different numbers on our caller ID and they are all from the same exact place.

This has me really pumped up and angry right now. I am never getting to bed.

Random Thoughts

I am currently reading Something Blue by Emily Giffin and just like Trading Up, this book is a chore to read. The author is a good writer, but the main character, who I disliked in Something Borrowed, is extremely unlikable. Just like that character in that Lauren Weisberger book (I can't even remember the name of it), Darcy Rhone is a Janey Wilcox-lite. Easily one of the most vain characters I have ever read. I'd like to punch the character in her face.

I have read plenty of the so-called "chick lit" books and the more I read, the more I am starting to get annoyed. The constant brand name dropping is annoying. No one can ever just look at their watch; they have to look at their Rolex or Cartier watch. They cannot just feel someone's bones through their coat; they feel someone's bones through their Burberry trench coat. Okay, we get it. If I could read just one chick lit book that does not mention Tiffany's, Manolo Blahniks, or Jimmy Choos, I think I would die of shock. Not all of us women are that fascinated with those things. I love jewelry, especially diamonds, but for the most part, I don't care where it comes from.

Ugh, if I could go one day without having to hear something about Lindsay Lohan, I think I would die of shock (again). Seriously- does anyone even care what she does anymore? I had to laugh one night on TV she said she lost weight because she has been working a lot. What the hell does she do? Is it really that difficult to pretend to be a lesbian?

I read an article earlier about songs that were originally written for someone, but someone else ended up singing it and a lot of the comments have the same basis- only true artists/musicians write and perform their own songs. I wonder if I were to go on and mention Deee-Lite what the response would be. I don't think many people realize, except true fans, that all their songs were written by them. Lady Miss Kier wrote all the lyrics and a few were co-written by Dmitry. They did sample (and gave the credit; Lady Miss Kier was not fond of people sampling and not giving credit), but other than that, everything was written by them. They weren't good enough for mainstream America, but they were without a doubt, true musicians.

Yeah, I just realized I mentioned that already. Oh well. Never hurts to reiterate it.

I could watch that video over and over. Lady Miss Kier is absolutely GORGEOUS in that video. Very old school movie actress. I love listening to her talk, too. Sophisticated and sultry, yet there is still an urban infliction. I wonder who the 47 different artists are that have sampled them.

If you have not caught Vh-1's Black to the Future, do make sure you do. It's hilarious. I love all those crazy shows, like I Love The 80's and all that.

Random Thoughts

Finally! I finished Chasing Harry Winston. Definitely one of the most painstaking books I have had to read (on my own that is; generally anything I was forced to read in high school or college was also downright dreadful). One hundred pages left to read and I put the book down and said "shit, I'd rather be reading The Hot Zone again!". This book....I really have no idea what its exact purpose was. Leigh was the most tolerable character, although still dislikable. Emmy....wow, let's glamorize being a whore now, should we? Adriana was a Janey Wilcox lite and I was going to scream if I had to see "querida/o" one more time. The only character worth liking was the crazy ass bird Otis. I like The Devil Wears Prada. I read it a long time ago, way before the movie came out. But this book was dreadful. It's like the time I read Citizen Girl. I read The Nanny Diaries right after Prada and enjoyed that as well. CG, on the other hand....well, I still have no idea what that was about. I read Dedication last year and I was actually surprised by how much I liked it, particularly the decade of the moment pop culture references and aside from the fact that most of the book, I just wanted to grab Katie, shake her, and scream THE HELL WITH JAKE!

Make sure you check out the new link under "Sites I Like To Stalk" entitled Cheesin Chadwick. It's a site dedicated to Chad Knaus and while I am not someone who would call him a stud, the site is hilarious. The first time I read it, I almost pissed my pants multiple times. And speaking of crew chiefs, I finally see a ring on Bootie Barker's hands. Its about time. He announced he was engaged in fucking 2007. Like I would ever forget that. It depressed the hell out of me at the time, since I was smitten with him. Why? I can't ever explain. Of course, now I couldn't give a shit. I was upset at the time for watching the show, but if I hadn't, I wouldn't have ever been reminded of who Deee-Lite was. But imagine if in some strange parallel universe, I had the oppurtunity to marry him....it would never work. Why? Because judging by past interviews, he is obviously a die-hard Republican and was a staunch supporter of the Iraqi War. I'd be fighting with him constantly.

Gee, a Republican Southerner who works in NASCAR....who would have thunk it?

Beta Blocker Blocks Feelings of Bad Memories

Hey, I wouldn't mind some of that. Now if they could just create something that zaps bad feelings and thoughts. The first thing I would do is find where the thought is that pains me so greatly and BOOM! zap it. That would rule. No longer will I have to sit around day in and day out and stress over how I could ever tell someone something that unfairly makes other people angry.

People suck.

Random Thoughts VII

I have barely had any sleep. I went to bed at 5AM, tossed and turned for 3 hours, sobbed hysterically (there is just something incredibly aggravating about trying to fall asleep when you are completely and utterly exhausted and sleep will not come), and then finally conked out at after 8AM. Was up off and on until about 1:30PM. Those three hours I couldn't sleep were spent with my mind running and running and running. I'll give you one guess as to what my mind was running about. And I was getting angry. I was angry over the situation and angry because it was making me angry. If my beloved Deee-Lite poster wasn't hanging next to my bed, I would have punched the wall. If my parents weren't home, I would have put my pillow over my face and screamed as loud as I could. God! I can't stand it. I just want to reach into my skull and pull my brain out. I miss the days of forced lobotomies and manditory sterilization. Seriously. I am not kidding. It's extreme, but anything has to be better than this.

For some reason while out on a run today, I thought of when I was in the hospital and half way through my stay, this really hot guy was admitted. He had big muscles, but not the kind that make me want to projectile vomit. And right before he came, an older man had been admitted. He was foreign, Czech or something. And he had a habit of walking around completely nude (and yes, sadly, this was my first view of a real life adult male penis, by which, I mean in person; I have seen plenty in movies and anatomy and human sexuality books) and not just that, he had a habit of, uh, going to the bathroom in every place but the bathroom. But back to the hottie. He was pretty angry about being admitted and he joined the group of people I hung out with and one day at lunch, he said he wanted to do something really outrageous. So I told him to walk around naked. Everyone laughed. What they didn't realize was I was dead serious.

Am I the only one who sees something wrong with FC Kerbecks's webpage address (www.fckerbeck.com)?

If I have to see one more commercial where some stupid dunce is praising a weight loss drug and omg! look at their body now! I am going to scream. You do not get a six-pack from a drug!

I'm smart, but I don't have the best common sense, but it is a little absurd that it took me all these years to finally realize that "White Lines" is about drugs. But to be fair, the only version I used to know was Duran Duran's cover and I was in elementary school when it came out.

Bees and other like insects are idiots. Stinging is used as a defense mechanism, they feel they are being threatened, so they sting you, and what happens to them? They end up dying anyway.

Why do horror movies always come out after the holiday season? Isn't that what Halloween is for?

Two years ago, almost three, my father brought me home a book that a co-worker found on an airplane called Trading Up and it was by Candace Bushnell. I am reading it again and I honestly have no idea how I ever read it before. The book is too damn drawn out, Janey is intolerable....I just want to punch that bitch in the face, especially when she throws a hissy fit in Italy. Maybe it is just me, but why does it seem like the people you hate the most are just like you the most?

I noticed one of my pictures wasn't showing up properly and when I clicked on it, it took me to an odd link with bandwidththief at the end of the link. Now I know what bandwidth thievery is, but I looked it up anyway. I found a webpage that explained that linking a picture from someone's page to mine was considered bandwidth theft. I had no idea of that, but it was by pure accident: therefore, I am not apologizing for it. Removing the picture is sufficient enough. I'm not going to stand here and be called a fucking thief. If that webpage explaining bandwidth theft thinks I would honestly post a picture with "reformed bandwidth thief" on my page, they can think twice. What a bunch of hooey. I ain't no damn thief.

It's too bad that no one can hear "Christmas At Ground Zero" by Weird Al anymore. It's one of those songs that is disturbing and disturbingly realistic, but it's fucking hilarious. And it was out long before 9/11; since the Cold War. I can't wait for the end of the world to come. I can't wait to meet the religious right and Sarah Palin and Bush and Cheney and all them in Hell.

Funny I was just thinking about it- the Doublemint gum commercial is back. Not that I am complaining- Chris Brown is hot. And speaking of hot- I must remember to watch Children Of Men. I started to watch it the other day, but I missed the beginning. That movie scared the hell out of me, BUT....Clive Owen is muy caliente. He reminds me of Paul van Dyk. Meeeee-ow!

lol- did you know Doublemint has it's own Wikipedia page?
