Ugh I am sitting here and every so often, the room starts spinning. It's really annoying. I tend to get this right before I am due for my period. Which I was expecting Friday, but has not come yet. My boobs are sore and swollen and every time I even lightly touch them, I want to scream. And if doesn't come soon, I am going to start getting really hostile. I already am pretty hostile. I snapped out on my mother earlier because I am tired of her nit-picking everything I do and she stormed off to bed. I think she might have told me to go fuck myself. Nice, eh? Love you too Mom.
Maybe I should go fuck myself.
I realized I forgot to talk about that reunion thing I went to last Sunday. Well, the previous Sunday, I guess. Turns out this is the last year for it. Kind of disappointing, since I do like going to it. I just hate that it is always the same weekend as Apple Fest, so I always end up going feeling fat and bloated. I tend to eat a lot at the reunion, mostly desserts. For an Italian thing, you'd think they would serve Italian food, but no. The food isn't bad, but it's not anything I would normally eat, except for the vegetables, since I am one of those weirdos who actually enjoys steamed broccoli and cauliflower. But the desserts. Mother of God, they are good. But back to the reunion itself. It's kind of boring, but hey, it's a night out. And I do actually get up and dance. My grandfather's boss asked me to slow dance with him. It was awkward as hell. I am a horrible slow dancer. And then there is just the whole I am socially awkward in general.
And apparently the night was just so exciting for my brother-in-law. He spent the entire night playing on his phone. And not discreetly either. He leaned on the table and held it high up. My grandmother was really pissed. So was I. I thought it was incredibly rude. And my sister doesn't even say anything. He does it ALL THE TIME. At holidays, family parties, birthdays, restaurant outings, etc. It astonishes me that he has such bad manners. One of these days I'd like to grab his phone and throw it against the wall. I am a horrible nasty person, but if there is one thing I have no patience for, besides everything, it is bad manners. And I have no patience for his rudeness. Because by him doing that, it is telling us that he bored and does not want to be around.
And normally I am the youngest one there, but this year there was a young girl maybe 8 or so there. Dressed entirely too grown up for her age and she looked like she was wearing her mother's high heels. And one point I see her go up to the DJ and a few minutes later, that fucking "Cotton Eye Joe" song starts playing and she is the only one doing the stupid dance to it and everyone is clapping and cheering her on. I just rolled my eyes. Why do people find
everything kids do just so adorable? And I just hate that song with the passion of a million fiery suns. My mother's friend's grandchildren are all obsessed with it as well. I don't understand why so many kids are so obsessed with it. It's old, for one. I think I was in middle school when it first came out. And it sucks eggs. This song and the "Macarena" (another one kids are still obsessed with) both need to go die in a fire.
I like to condemn music a lot, but one time I was reading something about bad music and someone mentioned that there is bad music in every decade. And I thought about it for a little bit and then said, you know what this person is absolutely right. Thinking back to older generation music, a lot of songs I grew up listening to, yeah, there is. For instance, I hate "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" by Manfred Mann. That song is just AWFUL. And while I like a few songs by them, and even odder a lot of bands I like are fans of them, I have never gotten the appeal of the Beach Boys. I hate "California Girls". I don't want to be no California girl. Fuck you, Beach Boys. "Leader of the Pack" by the Shangra-Las is another one. And that old song that Pearl Jam later covered, the "oh where oh where can my baby be the lord took her away from"....UGH.
And I grew up listening to a lot of doo-wop era music and while I still do enjoy some of it, now I listen to it and want to stab my eardrums.
